Recycling Facts

On average, 80 percent of a school's trash can be recycled

-- half of that is paper.

Each day, at home and at work, each of us produces 4.5 pounds of waste.  When you recycle something, you give it a second life as an entirely new product.

A plastic milk jug can be recycled as part of a picnic table.

A cereal box can be used to make a newspaper.

A newspaper can be used to make a diaper.

A water bottle can become a Frisbee.

Yard waste (grass clippings, plants and twigs) can be ground up and made into mulch for use in the garden.

Food scraps can be combined with yard waste and composted to make humus, a valuable garden product.
